Seek Knowledge
Wow! It’s September already. A warm welcome to the Fall season, and the beginning of another school year. Our theme for the month is “Seek Knowledge.”
God desires that we seek knowledge, and He is set to increase our knowledge in these last days through the Spirit of Knowledge (Daniel 12 : 4d). Every child of God has received the Holy Spirit and therefore has the seven spirits of God, the spirit of knowledge inclusive. Isaiah 11:2-3 states, “...the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon you, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; And shall make you of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord…”
Knowledge seeking requires you to “be ready, willing and eager to learn”. Pro 18:15 says - Intelligent people are always eager and ready to learn. Learn about God and your faith. Learn more about your career or vocation. Learn about your environment and people.
Learning improves human lives in so many ways. One of the merits is that you can build anything (including your life, family, career, home, your faith, health) through knowledge (Exodus 31:1-5; Proverbs 24:3-4). Also, knowledge helps you to have a quick perception and response to situations. Through knowledge, we are able to decide what is beneficial to us and what is harmful to us and we are able to make rational decisions about the world around us. Additionally, more grace and peace will be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord (2 Peter 1:2). Wise men seek and lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction (Proverbs 10:14). Be sure to pursue knowledge more than money. Tell yourself “I’m going to lay up knowledge this month, I will take my studies more seriously”.
Proverbs 18:15 says, “... the heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.” Seek knowledge of the Word of God, seek knowledge in your career or your academic pursuit. Knowledge is so important that we are advised to add it to our faith and virtues. 2 Peter 1:5-6 says, “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness…” All these things are from within except one we have to get from the outside, that’s knowledge. Brothers and sisters acquire knowledge.
Say to yourself, “through His knowledge, … I have an excellent mind. I will not be involved in stupid things. My mind is full of thoughts of God and renewed daily.” In the “Seek Knowledge,” we will explore; knowledge is power and hindrances to seeking knowledge.
