Love is ...

Behold! What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God! (1 John 3:1a). With these beautiful and refreshing words, we welcome you to the second month of 2019 – February.

It is a very special month with significance, touching both secular and spiritual realms. Not only is it the shortest month of the year (28 days this year), it is also the month of love. When getting ready for the popular Valentine’s Day, most people will remember to send candy, roses and cards filled with human expressions of love and devotion to their true loves. However, the deepest expression of love is more than candy, roses, and cards. It is remembering the love our Father bestowed on us that He sent us His Son. “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

Expression of love is remembering what Jesus did for us by presenting Himself as a living sacrifice for our salvation. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). It is not forgetting that while Jesus Christ was leaving, He commanded us to love one another. “This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you” (John 15:12).

Come along with us this February as we explore the Love is… series. We will examine what love is and what love is not. Our ultimate goal is to become passionate lovers of God and humanity. Our prayer will be: “make me more loving and kinder, make me more forgiving, make me a better witness for you”.
