Half-time

Wow, it’s June already! How time flies. I welcome you to the sixth month of the year. Our theme for the month is ‘Half-Time’. In Philippians 3:12-14, Apostle Paul reviewed his life from past to present - a halftime assessment of his life. Have you ever considered time as it relates to your life? Or better still, consider time as it relates to 2021? Now is a good time to give thought to how you are doing, and make some appraisals and adjustments.

Rodney Johnson Sr. said:

the road to victory may depend greatly upon the right halftime adjustments”.

In our text, Paul realized that though he had accomplished much, the prize still remained before him and he was not there yet. Therefore, in his halftime assessment, he decided to forget the negatives of the past and press for the future in Christ Jesus.

In the world of sports, great teams make good halftime adjustments. Regardless of their performance in the first half, they come out as a re-energized team for the second. I believe that life is the same way too. But unlike games, none of us know when we’re at the halftime of our lives. However, we can work with what we know - the half of the year.

Therefore, we must make the rest of this year the very best by taking some steps. Conduct an appraisal of the prize (the goal you set for the year), develop the ability to look beyond the majority (vision), assess the time you have left (number your days), acknowledge your failure (forget them with the intent of not repeating them), adjust your plays (shout less and pray more), accelerate your efforts (press for the prize), check your appetite (hunger to serve our Lord), act intentionally (no more excuses/procrastination), and believe God in spite of the circumstances (faith).

Well, I believe that the rest of this year can still be the best for you. Regardless of what has happened, you can begin today, and all will be well.
