Marching Forward

Happy new month Folks! It's March already, and our theme for this month is ‘Marching Forward!. In our anchor scripture (Deut 1:6-8), God spoke through Moses to the children of Israel letting them know that they had tarried long enough around Mount Horeb, and commanded them to move on, to move forward, to march forward!

We are just barely 3 months into the year, and God is calling on us to move forward. It is too early to begin to settle for whatever progress we think we may have made; we need to move forward. It is a call to come up higher, to press on, there is more in store for us. MARCH FORWARD! God was essentially saying to the children of Israel, “don’t get so comfortable in your present that you lose your drive to keep moving. You have stayed long enough at this place, move forward!” Don’t settle for good when there is provision for better.

MARCH FORWARD is also a call to not get stuck in the ‘disappointments’ of the past 2 months; it is too early to give up. God is saying to you, “Move on! You have stayed long enough in your pity state, grieving over what could have been. Move on!” That things may not be working out exactly as anticipated is not enough reason to give up. The God who says move on is also going on with you. So, move on, march forward in His strength. Besides, it is never over till He says so.

Now, MARCHING FORWARD entails you to take some decisive steps. If you must march forward, you must intentionally look in a direction that is in front of you. You must deliberately take some steps forward without looking back. Apostle Paul says in Philippians 3:13-14 that he deliberately forgets the past, learning from it and pressing forward. You must take some calculated risks. You must try some new things. For example, to march forward in your career, maybe you need to form a profiting alliance with the movers and shakers in your chosen field. To make headway in your academics, you may cut off some of roaming aimlessly. And to march forward in your spiritual journey, you’ve got to spend some more time with the Author and Finisher of your faith. In addition, you must have something you are looking forward to. Jesus Chrsit, our Perfect Example endured hardship and pressed forward because of the joy ahead- Heb. 12:1-3.

On a final note, never be afraid of taking those steps. Just make them steps of faith and watch God make a way for you. As the children of Israel approached the red sea, the Bible says that “…the sea saw them COMING (that is moving forward), not standing and fled…” So even if it looks like there is no way, keep taking divinely inspired/instructed steps; approach that ‘Red Sea’. It will flee before you! (Ps 114).

In the series, we shall examine marching forward in 2023 financially, marching forward spiritually, marching forward in your career and go forward. All will be well!
